Description

Power up your play! A new age action boys brand that brings out your power with energy & speed.

Scope

Growing up as a huge fan of action toys like Bakugan and Beyblade, I set out to create something new yet just as exciting in the boys action space.

Battalor was born from the question: “How do we make yo-yos cool?” I thought back to my childhood and thought of the coolest trick I knew - “walk the dog” and asked - what if we took it off the string? The name Battalor combines bandalore (the OG name for yo-yos) with battle, setting the foundation for a high-speed, high-intensity play pattern in this new boys action brand.

I wanted a way to power up a toy that could race off on its own. Working with our team of talented illustrators, script writers and inventors, we developed a unique gyro system - creating a seamless, self-contained power generator with no batteries, ripcords, or launchers. From there, I built the brand from the ground up, developing the play patterns, gameplay, characters, story bible, and the world of Velo City, all led by our hero, Jace Parker.

My goal was to craft something original yet inspired by childhood favorites. When creating the characters, I wanted aspirational heroes for today’s kids. Growing up, my favourite was Shun, the Ventus ninja from Bakugan, but today’s kids idolize figures like Ninja, the Fortnite streamer. That inspired me to create modern heroes—DJs, hypebeasts, athletes—who reflect today’s culture while tying back to Battalor’s core concept: harnessing kinetic energy to power up your play!
